Today is Friday the 13th! The second and last Friday the 13th of 2017. I have been doing some research and thought I'd share my findings, First and Foremost, a quote:

"When I am reading I will not stop on pages 94, 193, or 382 at all. The digits of these numbers add up to 13."

-Stephen King

Lets take a look at the 6th day of the week, Friday.

In the U.S, Friday is the 6th day of the week. The number 6 is often associated with the devil (666)

Bad things have been happening on this day since the late 1600s in Norse mythology:

When Norse and Germanic tribes were converted to Christianity, Freya, the goddess of fertility and love was banished to a mountaintop and titled a witch. It is said that every Friday she would have a meeting with 11 of her fellow witches and the devil -a gathering of 13!- and would plot ill comings for the people in the week ahead!

In biblical times, there have also been bad things that happened on a Friday

Jesus was crucified on a Friday

Eve tempted Adam on a Friday

Able was killed by his brother Cain on a Friday (Friday the 13th to be exact)

The Great Floods started on a Friday

Now let's Take a look at the Number 13,

Remember the gathering of Freya and her coven and the devil.

There's also the Norse God tale of the Death of Balder:

There was a dinner for the gods at Valahalla, 12 were invited and Loki was the 13th uninvited guest. Loki had a plan to persuade Hoder, the blind god of darkness to shoot Balder, the beautiful god of joy, with one of his arrows. Odin learned of the plan and made everything alive or dead to promise not to harm Balder. Unfortunately the Mistletoe was not made to promise. Loki dipped on of Hoder's arrows in the mistletoe and convinced him to shoot Balder. Balder died and the earth went dark. From then on, 13 was an Unlucky number.

The Last Supper also had 13 guests at the table, one of whom died shortly there after.

In some ancient religions 13 is also associated with the goddess (many religions looked down upon feminine power) because of the 13 menstrual cycles a woman has in a year (28x13=364)

Today the Number 13 is considered taboo. Tattoo shops around the U.S. promote Friday the 13th by selling themed tattoos for $13.00 This tradition was started by Dallas artist Oliver Peck (Seen as a judge on the T.V. show Ink Masters)

Now that we've seen why people may have their superstitions of Friday the 13th, let's look at the how it can be a Lucky day indeed!

Pagan religions believe that Friday the 13th is a strong and wondrous day for manifesting magic!

Friday comes from the Goddess of fertility and love, Freya. She was gifted with 2 black cats by none other then Thor, the god of thunder!

Friday is known to pagans and wiccan as a day you may receive gifts and blessings from the gods!

The number 13 is also quite powerful as it symbolizes the last stage of life. There are 12 here on earth and the 13th is the afterlife. The afterlife is a mysterious yet wonderful thing in the pagan religion that should be accepted and not feared.

After you've read this, if you've concluded that you believe Friday the 13th to be a day of bad luck and superstitions you may have what is known as

Paraskevidekatriaphobia - The fear of Friday the 13th!!

Happy ventures for the rest of this Spooky day and remember:

Balanced is Beautiful!
